On a piece of paper, write your answer to these two questions, to
make sure you fully understand your decision. Then go over your answers
with a mature Christ-follower.
1. What does it mean to be a Christ-follower?
2. How does a person enter the kingdom of God?
Before you make your decision, remember there are difficulties you will
face. There will likely be persecution, and relationships that will end.
Maybe try to talk yourself out of it; just to be sure you are completely
serious.
Once you are sure, make up your mind to follow Jesus for the rest of your
life. This is a willful decision, not necessarily an emotional one. People
respond very differently to making life-changing decisions.
Then do these things:
Forsake all other allegiances as your priority (grades, girlfriend, boyfriend, parents’ wishes, other religions and philosophies, etc.).
Pray and tell God you are surrendering your life completely to him.
Ask him to forgive you for all your sins. Then receive his forgiveness. Then forgive yourself.
Tell your closest Christ-following friends what you have done.
Ask them to arrange for you to be baptized.
Realize that entering into a relationship with God is also entering into a relationship with his people. You cannot have one without the other. You are part of his forever family now.
Commit to spending weekly time with God’s people in the following ways: a. With your weekly campus bible study b. With your weekly campus Christian Group c. With your local church d. With your mentor
Meet with Jesus every single day in bible reading and prayer. Then talk with him throughout the day.
Tell your friends how they too can become a follower of Jesus.
